Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are the rules for using Teacher Elf (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service in any other way, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Who can use Teacher Elf

  • Teachers must be at least 18 years old.
  • Anyone signing up on their own must be at least 13 years old, or have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the Service.
  • Students under 13 use the Service only through an account created and managed by their teacher, as described in our Privacy Policy.

2. Your account

  • Keep your sign-in details safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account, unless it is caused by our error.
  • If you manage student accounts, you are responsible for giving each student the right sign-in details and for resetting them when needed.
  • Tell us quickly via our contact page if you think someone else has gotten into your account.

3. What is not allowed

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to harass, bully, defame, or threaten any other user, including in forum posts or comments.
  • Upload or share content that is sexual, hateful, violent, or otherwise inappropriate for an educational audience that includes minors.
  • Use the AI Tutor or other AI features to create content that is not allowed, or try to get around the child-safety protections built into them.
  • Disrupt the Service, try to get into other users' accounts or data, or probe for security weaknesses without first agreeing with us how to report them.
  • Use automated tools or scripts to scrape content, bulk-create accounts, or otherwise abuse the Service.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, with or without notice.

4. Your content

  • You keep ownership of the decks, flashcards, forum posts, audio recordings, and other content you create.
  • You give us a non-exclusive license to host, show, and process your content as needed to run the Service.
  • Decks marked public are visible to other users. Only publish content you have the right to share.

5. AI-generated output

The Service uses outside AI providers (listed in the Privacy Policy) to generate text, translations, fill-in-the-blank items, and AI Tutor replies. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable for a given situation. You are responsible for checking AI-generated content before you use it in class.

6. Pricing

The Service is free today. We may introduce paid plans in the future. If we do, we will tell current users before their account is affected.

7. Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time from the settings page. Deletion removes your data from our database and your sign-in record from our authentication provider.
  • We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, or that have been inactive for a long time.
  • If an account is closed, the parts of these Terms that are meant to keep applying still apply, including the disclaimer, liability limits, and dispute terms.

8. Disclaimer

The Service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't promise that the Service will always be available, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that AI-generated output will be accurate.

9. Limitation of liability

Teacher Elf is provided free of charge and as is. We do our best to keep it working and your data safe, but we are not responsible for losses that result from using the Service, such as lost data or missed lessons.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will announce important changes in the app. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
